About Us
FAIL-SAFE Product Protection was formed in 1987, by Western Association, Kansas City, MO., as an Extended Protection Program for Outdoor Power Equipment dealer/members in Kansas and Missouri. Due to the interest and participation of other affiliated dealer associations across North America, FAIL-SAFE joined with First American Insurance Co. of Kansas City, MO, and began marketing their extended warranty programs for agricultural & construction equipment along with the FAIL-SAFE Outdoor Power Equipment plans throughout the U.S. and Canada.
In 1991, Ron Reusch and Randy Kuhnhoff purchased FAIL-SAFE from Western Association, and formed FAIL-SAFE Insurance Services, Inc., a Kansas corporation dedicated to assisting manufacturers and distributors with warranty needs and developing and marketing Extended Protection Plans for equipment and machinery dealers.
In 1992, FAIL-SAFE secured its own underwriter and began offering Extended Warranty Plans designed specifically for larger Agricultural and Industrial equipment.
In 1997, specific coverages were added to address compact equipment such as compact tractors, skid-steer loaders, and golf & turf equipment.
In 1999, FAIL-SAFE began a relationship with the Toro Company to administrate an extended protection plan for their commercial division. That relationship continues.
In 2000, all programs were consolidated with one underwriter, resulting in a much simpler and more user-friendly program. FAIL-SAFE currently provides the equipment industry's only complete Protection Plan offering for all sizes, types and makes of equipment, from the smallest machine to the very largest. FAIL-SAFE also provides protection plans, administrative support and equipment claims handling for a select group of equipment manufacturers and distributors.
In September of 2006, FAIL-SAFE celebrated 20 years of offering extended protection, paying claims and providing support for equipment dealers.
In 2007 FAIL-SAFE continues to offer the most complete extended protection program available to equipment dealers, with coverage in force protecting over a half billion dollars of equipment and machinery.
In April, 2008 FAIL-SAFE debuted their "TANGIBLE PROTECTION PROGRAM". A truly revolutionary concept that is aimed at taking the mystery out of Extended Protection plans while at the same time helping dealers be more successful.
In 2010 FAIL-SAFE signed a strategic partnership agreement with Fulcrum Analytics to become their administrator of OEM warranty programs for the Outdoor Power and Power Sports industries.
